General Science - 2019

What brought you to KPU and your program of study?

I chose KPU because it felt like a place where I could truly grow, both academically and personally. Coming from a family that valued education and perseverance, I wanted a learning environment that would challenge me while also supporting my goals. The Diploma in Science gave me the opportunity to explore different subjects, strengthen my problem-solving abilities, and discover what I was passionate about. More importantly, KPU taught me that success is not always about having a perfect plan—it is about staying open to opportunities, working hard, and being willing to adapt when life takes you in a new direction.

Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?

Today, I work in a role where science, analysis, and problem-solving come together to support important organizational decisions. My responsibilities include reviewing data, identifying trends, maintaining accuracy, and collaborating with others to improve processes and outcomes. Every day presents new challenges that encourage me to think critically and approach problems from different perspectives. What excites me most is knowing that the skills I developed through my science education continue to help me make informed decisions and contribute to meaningful work that benefits others.

Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?

The most valuable lesson I gained from KPU was learning how to learn. The coursework helped me develop critical thinking, time management, and communication skills, but the real impact came from the confidence I built through overcoming challenges. There were times when balancing studies, work, and personal responsibilities felt overwhelming, yet those experiences taught me resilience and discipline. KPU showed me that growth happens outside of your comfort zone, and that mindset has stayed with me throughout my career. Whenever I face a new challenge, I draw on the determination and perseverance that I developed as a student.

What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?

Never underestimate where a single step can lead. When I was a student at KPU, I focused on learning, growing, and making the most of every opportunity that came my way. Looking back, I realize that success is not about having everything figured out from the beginning, it is about showing up consistently, staying resilient when things get difficult, and continuing to move forward. Be open to new experiences, embrace challenges as learning opportunities, and trust the process. The skills, relationships, and confidence you build today can open doors you never imagined possible tomorrow.
