What brought you to KPU and your program of study?

KPU was my first choice because of its close-knit community, which immediately drew me in. The Psychology faculty was still growing, and I wanted to be part of shaping its future. Ultimately, I was looking for a university where I could build meaningful relationships while contributing to a developing community, and KPU offered exactly that.

Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?

I am a child life specialist. I support the coordination and delivery of respite programs for children and youth with developmental disabilities, assisting with child development strategies, participant support, staff coordination, and program operations.

Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?

I have developed foundational social and communication skills through my experience at KPU. The institution has also strengthened my ability to work within interdisciplinary teams, allowing me to better understand individual perspectives and build meaningful, collaborative relationships.

The university’s close-knit community has fostered a sense of social agency within groups, strengthening collaboration and interpersonal connection.

What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?

Take that leap!
I would encourage them to take the leap in building meaningful relationships with their peers during and after university, and to nurture those connections over time. I would also encourage them to align their experiences with their personal goals for the future, embracing every opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Above all, I would tell them to pursue these things fearlessly, with an open heart and a willingness to learn from every experience.
