JASMINE MUNDAY
Marketing Management - 2026
What brought you to KPU and your program of study?
When I first started at KPU, I was not entirely sure what career path I wanted to pursue. I initially considered accounting, but as I explored different business courses, I discovered that marketing was a much better fit for my interests and strengths. I enjoyed the combination of creativity, communication, and strategy that marketing offered. KPU's hands-on approach to learning and strong focus on real-world experience also appealed to me, as I wanted an education that would help prepare me for the workforce while allowing me to explore different opportunities and career paths.
Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?
I currently work as a Proposal Coordinator at an engineering consulting firm. Although I have only been in the role for a few months and I am still learning. My responsibilities include coordinating and preparing proposal submissions, conducting quality reviews, maintaining project and staff qualification materials, and supporting business development efforts. I work closely with technical teams to help communicate their expertise and project experience to clients. The role has given me valuable exposure to marketing, business development, and the engineering industry, and I'm excited to continue growing in it.
Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?
The hands-on learning opportunities and work experience I gained through KPU have been the most valuable in my career so far. Through co-op and student employment roles, I was able to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-world projects and develop professional skills before graduating. KPU also helped me strengthen my communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, which I use daily in my current role. Beyond academics, the relationships I built with classmates, faculty, and colleagues gave me confidence and helped prepare me for the transition into the workforce.
What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?
My biggest piece of advice would be to gain as much real-world experience as possible through co-op, student employment, volunteering, or networking opportunities. These experiences help you build skills, confidence, and professional connections. I would also encourage students to think beyond the traditional career paths associated with their degree. As a marketing graduate, I found a career in proposal coordination and business development, where I apply many of the same skills in a different way. Sometimes the best opportunities are in roles or industries you may not have initially considered. Finally, don't be discouraged by setbacks. Every experience teaches you something and helps you get closer to finding the right fit.
