What brought you to KPU and your program of study?
I was looking for a bridge after high school that offered a diversity of courses and programs, which allowed me the flexibility I needed as I found my way between high school and what would eventually become my career.
Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?
As a small business owner, my team and I work together to deliver services primarily related to supporting the agriculture sector. Together, we work specifically in risk management and mitigation, and provide support, knowledge, and leadership to our partners and clients in the industry as they navigate new and emerging challenges, especially related to disease and environmental pressures at the farm and industry level.
Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?
KPU offered the ability to take courses form a variety of disciplines, which helped me build my knowledge and basic skills that support me now as a business owner. The ability to diversify course loads offered the chance to explore new fields, but also provided the breadth of experience I have come to draw on throughout my career, ultimately landing me in my current role.
What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?
My best advice to a new grad is to never be afraid to try something new! I know its cliche, but if you are faced with an option in your career, especially early, that comes with little measurable risks or costs, try it. It may not work out, but you can always lean on that experience and learn from it when you are facing your next decision!
